Jill had a happy, healthy 20-year relationship with her college sweetheart, two wonderful kids, and a rescue cat from the Humane Society. They lived in a nice suburban home with a white picket fence and owned a small bar that was rated one of the "Best Mom and Pop" businesses in Tampa Bay. From the outside everything looked "perfect".
As Pride Month begins, this episode is a reminder that everyone deserves the same love and respect that you and I expect for ourselves.
Jillian was a married mother to two amazing kids when, at the age of 38 she came to finally accept that she was, in fact, a lesbian. Her book, Perfectly Queer: Facing Big Fears, Living Hard Truths, and Loving Myself Fully Out of the Closet is a number one bestseller and tells the story of how an overachieving, "perfect" child finally came to accept her whole truth.
In the episode Jill and I talk about coming out, whether it's to family, friends, co-workers or anyone else and how we can all be kinder, if not allies. Also, as a side note, her social media is fire!

When I first met Kari, I knew she was a Relationship Coach, but not much else. As we talked though, there seemed to be a thread running through our conversation and that thread was olive green.
Kari has a deep and personal military connection and a lot of it has influenced her life and her business. She opens up in this episode about her focus on relationships but also how we can all be more kind to those serving the United States; whether you are currently serving or are a veteran. Whether you "fought the Cold War like us or were "down range".
As we wrap up Military Appreciation Month (May) and approach Memorial Day, this episode serves to remind us that members of our military are living and working amongst us and could all use a little kindness.

Who doesn't love a good hug? The power that is contained within a hug is amazing. From soothing a scraped knee and comforting a frightened child to reminding someone that they matter, hugs can be powerful medicine. The need for human touch is one of our most basic, primal needs. Lack of human touch can lead to such negative health outcomes as depression, anxiety and immune system disorders.
My guest on this episode is Edie Weinstein, the founder of a Facebook page called "Hugmobsters Armed With Love". We discuss what the power of a hug can do (releasing oxytocin, the love hormone, boosts self esteem, and relaxes muscles) and her own experience giving out free hugs in her Philadelphia area.
Be sure to follow Edie for more feel-good content.

Dementia seems to be so pervasive in our society these days. We think about people like Bruce Willis who is dealing with Frontotemporal dementia or Robin Williams who had Lewy Body Dementia or any number of our friends and relatives who are dealing with Alzheimer's.
My guest on this episode is Beth Dunoff who calls herself "The Dementia Whisperer". Beth has spent decades researching and learning about all the different forms of dementia (spoiler alert; there over 100 different types!). She started her business, Fill Your Cup, LLC. , to help caregivers take care of themselves and educate caregivers on how to have a more fulfilling relationship with their dementia patients.
As a kindness to my listeners, she is offering a FREE consultation, a $250.00 value when you go to http://www.fillyourcupllc.com/mike.

Recently I reached out to the kindness subreddit asking if anyone had ever been the recipient of or participated in an act of kindness that was so amazing that it changed either their or someone else's life. I got a lot of really great responses, but one stuck out to me. His name was James and his story was simply fantastic. I asked if he would agree to be on my show, but he said no. He was too busy taking care of his wife. I really, really wanted to get his story out there, so I asked if he would allow me to tell it. He agreed!
This is the story of James and Jenny Steele. After Jenny received a devastating health diagnosis late in 2019, they received so much support and love from family, friends and complete strangers, James said he needed to find a way to send some of that love and kindness back out into the world. Stamps4Hope was his answer. Here is all of their social links.

In this episode I speak with Sam Knickerboker, the founder of Fuel Your Legacy. Sam helps people of all ages figure out what legacy people want to be remembered for and how to achieve that. We had a fascinating conversation about how so many legacies boil down to kindness. It's a great episode, trust me.
There are so many ways to connect with Sam. Here are just a few:

Also don't forget about his book, Fuel Your Legacy: 9 Pillars to Build a Meaningful Legacy which can teach you how to find out what your authentic legacy is and how to go about achieving it.
And, since we're talking about books, don't forget my book, also at Amazon, called Change A World in Order to Change the World. Awkward title, great inspiration if you're trying to make you little corner of the world a better place through kindness.

Meet Mark Matthews, PhD student at Ohio State University and an expert on kindness. From why we aren't kinder, as a nation, to how we could be kinder, Mark has some great ideas that he shares with me in this episode. We talk about his upbringing in conservative rural Ohio and the cultural whiplash he experienced while attending Ohio State and how those differences lead him to start the American Discovery Tour.

Perhaps you've said it or thought it, "I want to change the world!" But then you start comparing yourself to others who have changed the world; the Mahatma Ghandi's, the Martin Luther King's, the Rosa Park's or Greta Thunberg's, and you think I do not have the resources to change the world. I'm not rich. I'm not famous.
But what if could change A world. One person, everyday, who then, because of you, go out and try to change a world, too. Sooner rather than later, you could be making a HUGE impact in the world.
That's the question I posed to my guest Lisa Dimino White, renowned author, public speaker and Life Coach. Together we go through what it would look like to change, maybe not THE world, but A world, daily.
