Kindred Church

We continue our exploration of 2 Timothy by looking at three metaphors Paul explains are crucial for endurance: the soldier, the athlete, and the farmer. With the help of Kindred's own Michael Euperio, we explore what being "a good soldier" really means and discover a wealth of spiritual principles and practical help for making it through desperate times.

This message is from our Sunday morning service on August 9th, 2026.

This week we dive into Paul's legacy letter to his prodigy and teammate in ministry, Timothy. He begins this final letter to Timothy with three powerful reminders to live by: remember who you are, don't waste your life, & watch your mouth. Upon this challenge, we explore what it looks like to embrace suffering for the sake of our character and the sake of others.

Our wise and dear friend, Josh Beijer, takes us on a journey to find the treasure buried within Psalm 22. He gives us helpful tools for approaching these ancient words and brings Scripture to life with incredible pictures and connections. He reminds us of God's power to take what was meant for harm and turn it for good, and the celebration we're invited to get swept up in when God transforms our suffering.

Our good friend, Taylor Beijer, shares powerfully what comfort Psalm 63 has brought her over the years. She reminds us of God's nearness, that his presence can be found within us, and the invitation to look inward when we find ourselves in seasons of longing and desperation.

Zack kicks off our Summer of Psalms series with a look at Psalm 146. Together, we explore what it looks like to maintain a perspective of joy and hope when life's difficulties and challenges pull us toward despair. Choosing the bright side is not cheap optimism, but the grounded confidence and comfort that God is our help.

This message concludes our study of the book of 1 Timothy! In this final chapter, Paul clarifies our focus. He calls us to fight the good fight of faith. He challenges us to remember our fight is not against one another or against culture or anything else, but to pursue righteousness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness above all else.

In celebration of Father's Day, join us for a conversation about Jesus' vision for family, the way he redefines it and broadens our definition. The beauty of the church is that we get to embody these roles not just for our biological families but for one another. We gain spiritual mothers and fathers and brothers and sisters in our belonging to God and to each other.

Welcome to VIM - short for Very Important Meeting! These bonus episodes will feature candid conversations between Zack and Lindsey that explore rabbit trails, questions, & insights from sermon study they didn't get to use, honest wrestling with current church & ministry philosophy, and what we're learning about ourselves along the way.

In today's VIM, we cover:
- Research revealing a collapse in the public's trust of pastors and spiritual leaders
- The difference between disagreement and distrust
- What the research means for our community and how we engage skepticism

If you enjoyed this conversation and want to connect with Kindred Church, we gather on Sunday mornings at 10am at 957 Main St., Louisville 80027).

The church is facing an accountability crisis. We are all too familiar with headlines featuring the failures of faith leaders and many of us carry our own personal stories of pain and spiritual trauma. We know accountability is crucial for developing trust, but what does it look like in real life and in our churches? We begin with Paul's words to Timothy in this letter and what it looks like for us here at Kindred.
