School districts kicking out Christian student-teachers for reason of their Christianity.  Teachers hiding pending student gender transitions.  Explicit library books.  American history being rewritten.

Have we lost our minds?

Glen Schultz is a legend in Christian education.  Having had an instrumental part in the foundations of some of America's most storied Christian schools, having been involved in the genesis of Liberty University and Lynchburg Christian Academy, and working at Life Ways Christian Publishers during the explosion of home school education, Schultz knows the in's and out's, the high's and low's of Christian education and Biblical worldview.

And, having stood the tests of time and tumult, he's unafraid to speak his encouragement and correction directly, confronting the inevitable cultural decline that results when we try to segregate God and education.  This summer, we have the amazing opportunity to spend seven weeks with Schultz, working through his ground-breaking book, "Kingdom Education".  With new episodes each Monday throughout Summer 2023, listeners are going to take a deep dive into Biblical worldview, the catastrophic intersection between education and secularism, and the road map back to health in our homes, schools, and churches.

Nathan Atkinson had been in the role of Executive Principal within Australia's Summerland Christian College for only five weeks when disaster hit.

Australia's ravaging wildfires had primed the nation for flooding.  And, in 2022, historic storms produced disastrous floods that forever changed the area of Lismore.  Twenty-two lives were tragically lost alongside the inestimable loss of homes and property.

But, Nathan and the Summerland team were ready.  The team pulled together and had an indelible impact on their community.  In today's moving Kingdom Culture Conversation, you will have the opportunity to reflect alongside Nathan as he looks back on that dark time and distills out the lessons that we can all apply to our lives.

Scholar and artiste extraordinaire Jon Bon Jovi (tongue firmly planted in cheek) said it best:  "The more things change, the more they stay the same."

This certainly proves to be the case in today's Kingdom Culture Conversation with Nathan Atkinson, the Executive Principal for Australia's Summerland Christian College.  Geoff and Nathan quickly discover that there are a healthy number of both similarities and differences between Australian and American Christian education.

But, as we hear today, one of the keen risks in front of believers engaging the culture in American has also come to fruition for our Aussie brothers and sisters.

Clarity that leads to confidence.  Confidence that leads to courage.  Courage to change the culture.  This is the heartbeat of the Colson Fellows program, a flagship offering from the Colson Center for Christian Worldview.

Today's episode of Kingdom Culture Conversations represents a change of pace.

Effectively, it is an invitation to our listeners to participate in the 2023/2024 class of Colson Fellows.  To round out this invitation, we hear from Nathan Johnson who is part of the leadership team driving the Colson Educators initiative within the Colson Center.  Nathan and Geoff break down the specifics of the Colson Fellows program, explain how it works, discuss the objectives, and spell out the time commitments.  In that Northwest Christian School teachers are all preparing to embark on a three-year Colson Educators training cycle, their conversation will also spell out the distinctions between Colson Fellows and Colson Educators.

The coursework for the 2023/2024 Colson Fellows cohort kicks off on July 1, 2023.  The deadline to apply is Thursday, June 15th.  To apply, please follow this link.

If you are a member of the Northwest Christian School faculty or staff, you have the opportunity to participate in the Colson Fellows program at the school's expense.  And, the application deadline has been extended to Friday, June 22nd.  If you are interested in participating, please email Geoff Brown at [email protected].

If you are an educator within the state of Arizona who would like to participate, you also can take advantage of the extended deadline.  Please reach out to Nathan Johnson directly at [email protected].
