January 6th, 2021 produced a host of thorny issues.  Aside from the historic events of that day, as Christ-followers, we're left to do the forensics on that day.  In so doing, we are well served to wrestle with a question posed on January 7th, 2021 by John Stonestreet, the president of the Colson Center for Christian Apologetics:  What if what we saw yesterday in the U.S. Capitol was us?

Young Life is a Christian ministry that reaches out to middle school, high school, and college students, on their campuses and in the homes, in all 50 of the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.

How is it that while ministries around the nation are being chased from the public square, the appetite for Young Life programming has only grown?  Further, as you consider that 1 in 3 students that attend a Young Life camp come to faith in Christ, one has need of asking:  What does Young Life do to produce such an appetite for an authentic relationship with Christ and a desire for the truth of Scripture?

Dr. Collette House is an accomplished educator  who is part of the governing board for the Association of Christian Schools International while serving as the Superintendent of Aurora Christian Schools in Illinois.

Recently, Illinois has become a front in the culture wars as the state's littlest citizens are put in harm's way through the adoption and implementation of new state teaching and learning academic standards.   As district schools and university teaching programs work to rid state standards of the "evils" of racism, homophobia, unearned privilege, and Eurocentrism, it would seem that Biblical worldview is also being displaced as part of the "New Enlightenment".  As an ACSI board member, school leader, and public education advisory committee member, Dr. Collette House has a front row seat to the whole debacle.

But, her advice to parents may surprise you.  Give up the ship?  Retreat?  Surrender the culture?

Proverbs 12:10 is pretty clear:  "The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel."

Does that mean that hunting is prohibited in scripture and that, as Christ followers, we should not be involved in hunting or fishing?

Twice in April 2022, members of the CCV youth ministry team have been involved in chapel.  Riley Reinhardt--a student within the CCV Leadership Institute--spoke at the beginning of the month.  And, Ryan Schultz and Matt Newman will be speaking in two day's time on April 20th.
