What is the most important and life altering thing we can know about Jesus?

After His betrayal and arrest, Jesus is dragged to the house of a high priest where He confesses His true identity as rightful lord over all. He stands in chains and is beaten and mocked. The irony is heartbreaking thick, and what Jesus reveals during this scandalous trial has huge implications for our lives to this day.

In Mark 14:26-52 we walk through a somber passage of scripture—the night Jesus prayed in agony knowing his brutal death was right around the corner. Though He was left abandoned and betrayed, we see a bright ray of hope for the world in the middle of His prayer.

We walk through a sober moment in the life of Jesus: the very last meal he shares with his disciples. This “last supper” happens during the Passover feast, a detail with great significance that cannot be overlooked. Digging into these details will help us understand the “why” and the “how” of one of Christianity’s more strange and misunderstood practices today: the communion meal. 

Mark 14:12-25

We are back in the Gospel of Mark! As we dive into the final moments before Jesus‘ death, we will look at Jesus’ anointing at Bethany, which Jesus describes as a “beautiful thing” that will remembered through the ages. This extravagant act of worship also prompts a turning point for Judas, the disciple who betrayed Christ.

We wrap up our DNA series by diving into John 17 and unpacking Jesus’ prayer for us. How does Jesus pray? What does he pray for? How does that inform the way we pray at KXC?

Jesus came to give us life and life in the fullest. In Matthew 16:21-26 we’ll see how when we plunge the depths of the whole gospel (as opposed to the parts we like to pick and choose), then God begins to transform and renew our whole lives for joy of the whole world and the glory of His great name.

Worship is something the human soul just can’t help but do. Every one of us, at the very core of our being, is wired for worship—to make much of something or someone bigger than us. The question is whether or not we worship truly.
