Indiana lost to Ohio State on Saturday. Trent woke up Sunday morning feeling better about this team than he did going into the game. Tim mostly agrees.

Tim and Trent break down what the 17-10 loss actually revealed: Indiana held Jeremiah Smith to zero touchdowns — the only team this season to do that — and still lost. The difference was a run game that could not get going against an elite defensive line, a handful of uncharacteristic errors, and a Josh Hoover injury that may carry into Michigan week.

They go through what they liked (Amari Farrell’s two picks, Nick Marsh cooking cornerbacks all day, a defensive line that is genuinely building something), what they didn’t (the same formation on every run play, Nico Radichich’s 55-yarder falling short, special teams decisions), and who they are buying and selling stock in heading into the stretch run.

Ohio State fans flooded the Kirkwood and Dunn mentions this week, and Tim and Trent are welcoming every single one of them. Trent is in his Big Ten championship shirt. Tim placed his Indiana Moneyline bet and a Josh Hoover 40-to-1 Heisman wager before Nebraska even kicked off. Episode 165 opens with a full breakdown of Ohio State’s actual 2026 resume — a win over Ball State, a loss at Texas, wins over Kent State, Illinois, Iowa, and Maryland — and the question nobody in the national media is asking. Then it is the Nebraska postgame. Tim’s biggest problem is the three straight timeouts in the first half and not going for two to cut it to three. Curt Cignetti used the word “conservative” himself after the game. The offensive line could not move anyone and Turbo Richard had 11 yards. On the other side: AJ Harris switching to boundary corner unlocked the defense, Nick Marsh had a 75-yard touchdown and the fourth-and-one conversion, Bryant Haines made the right adjustments, Jacob Savage stepped up as a true freshman on the road, Stephen Daly was everywhere, and Josh Hoover put up 263 yards and two touchdowns with a 94 QBR in the wind. Sell: the offensive line, Cignetti’s road game management, Nebraska’s win streak illusion, and Trent for being wrong about UCLA and Bob Chesney. This one was caught live on YouTube straight after the final whistle. Trent jumped on immediately after Indiana escaped Nebraska 20-17 in Lincoln — still sweating, still processing, not apologizing for anything.

Indiana won but did not dominate. Nebraska showed up, Anthony Colandrea played better than expected, and the Hoosiers got pushed around in the trenches for stretches. Trent breaks down what went wrong, what the adjustments were that flipped the game in the second half, and why AJ Harris switching to the boundary changed everything for the Indiana defense.

Nick Marsh was the standout on offense. Stephen Daly and Jacob Savage made plays on defense. Josh Hoover was gutsy in the wind. The portal built this win, and Trent gives every one of those guys their flowers.

The issues are real though — miss tackles, a disappearing run game, and an inability to cover tight ends that needs to get fixed before Ohio State shows up at Memorial Stadium next week.

Josh Hoover's first road test of the season is at Rutgers — and his home/away splits from TCU are worth flagging before Indiana heads to Piscataway. Tim's take: Rutgers' defense is so bad this is essentially a get-right game. Trent wants a quicker start, Nick Marsh early, and self-inflicted wounds cleaned up before Lincoln. KJ Duff is the best receiver Indiana faces until Jeremiah Smith — 29 catches, 550 yards, 7 touchdowns on a terrible team where everyone knows the ball is going to him. Trent and Tim go through every NFL-caliber receiver Indiana has faced in 2024 and 2025 and how Bryant Haines' zone scheme creates opportunities even against elite coverage.
