  • Jesus' concern for his families
Tonight we considered two things from the passage--1- A family's concern for Jesus-2- Jesus' concern for his families-We discover that Jesus was not only concerned for his earthly, biological family but that he has deep concern for his spiritual family. Whilst our biological families are a blessing to us, the blessings of the spiritual family of Jesus are far better in that he gives the gift of salvation to all those who believe.

  • Selflessness, Surrender & Salvation of Jesus
Today we are looking at Matthew 23 v 37 which illustrates 3 things about Jesus--1- The selflessness of Jesus - as he put others before himself repeatedly.-2- The surrender of Jesus - he surrendered himself to something awful and dreadful-3- The salvation of Jesus - and the responsibility of humans to respond.

  • Where there is faith there is salvation
Tonight we consider a solemn passage of scripture in Revelation which talks about the final judgement. All will appear before Jesus who is seated on the great white throne. For those who are not believers or who rest in their own merit Jesus will say -Depart-. But for those who have faith in Jesus and receive his gift of salvation, Jesus will invite them to -Come- and enter heaven. Whether you have great faith or even little faith, Jesus promises salvation to you.

We consider 3 things arising from this--1- Dealing with problems-2- Dealing with disappointing responses-3- Dealing with a delightful outcome-We see that in the midst of pain and sorrow Jesus helps us to deal with life's problems, disappointments and provides a delightful outcome for those who trust in Him.

  • An adulterer & murderer pardoned
Tonight we consider King David and moments of his life where he sinned against God in committing adultery and murder. David, as with all sinners, deserved the punishment of death but David confessed his sin before God and is forgiven. David was then to lose his child and be separated from him however is assured that -I will go to him, he will not come to me- This is a difficult truth to confront that this world's relationships will all end with death but there will come a time when both body and spirit will be reunited for the believer in heaven. For those who trust and have faith in God, they will find mercy, refuge and forgiveness in Him, both in this life and for eternity.

  • Where do you go in times of trouble?
We have been reminded recently with the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that troubling times and death will come to us all. In today's passage we consider how the disciples were troubled at the departure of Jesus and that we too will not pass through this world without troubles. However it is who we turn to in our times of trouble that is important. Those who trust in Jesus turn to Him and have the assurance that Jesus left to prepare a place for His people and has promised to return again. Those who believe in Jesus have the promise that all is well with their soul in life and in death.
