    The Lassen County Sheriff's have made a second arrest in a deadly shooting west of Susanville. This morning Lassen County Deputies confirmed the arrest of 43-year-old David Bates of Susanville. 46-year-old Chance Lovin of Susanville is already in custody. Michael Hubbard was found dead May 25th after deputies received reports of a shooting off Highway 36. The investigation is ongoing.

    The Carson City Sheriff's Office says Secret Witness is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of three suspects who burglarized the J-C Penney store on Carson Street and stole jewelry. Sheriff's investigators say the thieves broke through an exterior and interior door with a large rock and were in and out within two minutes. There is no reliable description available for any of the three suspects. They escaped with an unspecified amount of jewelry.

    Richie West will return to jail. Federal judge Miranda Du refused to grant bail, but ordered the jail to consult with health care providers to see that West is getting proper care. He's been struggling with health problems, some related to his apparent addiction to pain killers.

    A spokesman for Care Flight confirms at least three people have been flown to Reno for treatment after an incident at High Desert Prison in Susanville. Few details have been released, but the spokesman says he understands there was a riot at the prison today. Care Flight from Reno flew one of the patients to Reno; two Susanville-based helicopters each flew one, as well.

    1. A Nevada political consultant has been indicted in Las Vegas on extortion, perjury and other charges accusing him of illegally trying to sway a state lawmaker's vote in a contentious battle for an Assembly leadership position in late 2014. Tony Dane was accused Thursday of trying to get Assemblyman Chris Edwards to change his vote for the Assembly Speaker post in the weeks before the state Legislature convened early last year. The contest over the vote for the most powerful Assembly member in the GOP majority exposed a rift between moderate Republicans including Edwards and more conservative party members.
