Increased water levels at Lake Tahoe have allowed for the opening of the boat ramp at Sand Harbor. For now, only boats under 14 feet will be able to launch. Boaters are required to have their powered watercraft inspected or sealed, prior to arriving at the ramp. The boat ramp is open Monday through Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The cost to launch is $20 per vehicle. Sand Harbor State Park is located 3 miles south of Incline Village on Highway 28.

A fire that started in a utility room at a Stead home has displaced three residents and two pets early this morning. The Reno Fire Department responded to the 7800 block of Big River Drive at about 3:16 a.m. Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames and kept them to the utility room. Community organizations are helping the displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Reno police say they are investigating a shooting outside the Doc Holiday's bar in the downtown area this (Sunday) morning. Officers responded to the bar at about 10:49 a.m. Officials said an argument between two men started inside the business, which then trickled outside. They said one of the men pulled out a gun and opened fire, and one bullet ricocheted and grazed an innocent bystander in the leg. The victim, a man, was treated at the scene for a minor injury. Authorities say they are still looking for the gunman. No suspect description has been released.

Sparks Police have arrested a man they believed to have committed multiple sex crimes. Sparks Police patrol officers began an investigation yesterday (Friday) into allegations that 50-year-old Jose Moreno-Padilla had committed these crimes at a variety of locations in Sparks over several years. Today (Friday) detectives began assisting with the investigation and determined that evidence gathered substantiated the arrest of Moreno-Padilla. He's being charged with sexual assault on a child under 14, lewdness with a child under 14 and sexual assault. Police say the investigation is continuing.
