The people who oppose repeal of the Commerce Tax, say they are pleased with the Supreme Court ruling invalidating the petition. Matt Griffin says repeal would have grave and lasting consequences to the state, and that proponents were, "Deceiving" Nevadan's. But backers of the "RIP Commerce Tax" petition think the High Court got it wrong, and say they aren't quitting. They insist they were deceived by republicans who campaigned against higher taxes, and then voted for this. Governor Sandoval issued a statement saying the sponsors of this referendum owed it to the voters to explain the effect signing this petition would have on the state budget, and most importantly, students and classrooms across Nevada.

Carson City Sheriff’s investigators and the U.S. Secret Service have made two arrests, after the discovery of a counterfeiting lab. Last week deputies arrested Thomas Morla and Yvonne Flores while in possession of a stolen vehicle. Both had previously been identified as counterfeiting suspects, spreading fake 100 dollar bills throughout northern Nevada. Detectives searched the motel room where they were staying, and found the counterfeiting set-up. Morla and Flores are both from the Sacramento area and would frequent the northern Nevada area during the past several months making and then passing counterfeit currency. The amount of passed counterfeit currency involved with both of the suspects along with other individuals involved with them is not being disclosed, but it was substantial.

A robbery suspect is being treated after slitting his wrists and ramming a patrol car into another. The robbery happened at a 7-Eleven store on North Carson Street around 3AM Thursday. The suspect walked into the store, showed a toy gun to the clerk and filled a bag with bottles of alcohol before running off. A deputy saw the suspect and gave chase. The suspect ran around the deputy, and got into the driver's side of his patrol car. The deputy got into the passenger side and fought with the suspect, who rammed the car into another patrol car and then hit storage units at a nearby apartment complex. The suspect cut his wrists with a knife at some point before climbing into the patrol car. 27 year old Nathan Oakie has some other "Issues," he is a suspect in the sexual assault of a minor, and possession of child pornography.

No one was hurt and there is no threat to the community after a drive-by shooting in Fernley, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office. About 12:30AM Thursday deputies responded to a report of shots being fired in the 1000 block of Brierwood Lane. Investigators say it was a neighborhood dispute that resulted in several shots that hit nobody. Sheriff Al McNeil says investigators are tracking leads, but he believes this is an isolated incident between two parties.

Officials with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that the body of a man who may have fallen or jumped into the Truckee River over the weekend has been found. Sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon says volunteers with the department's HASTY Team located the body in the river near the Glendale Bridge at about 7:30 yesterday evening -- about two hours after they resumed the search. Witnesses said they saw a man fall or jump into the river Saturday night. Searchers were unable to locate the man either Saturday or Sunday, but the HASTY search team resumed the search yesterday at about 5:00 in the afternoon.
