    The people who oppose repeal of the Commerce Tax, say they are pleased with the Supreme Court ruling invalidating the petition. Matt Griffin says repeal would have grave and lasting consequences to the state, and that proponents were, "Deceiving" Nevadan's. But backers of the "RIP Commerce Tax" petition think the High Court got it wrong, and say they aren't quitting. They insist they were deceived by republicans who campaigned against higher taxes, and then voted for this. Governor Sandoval issued a statement saying the sponsors of this referendum owed it to the voters to explain the effect signing this petition would have on the state budget, and most importantly, students and classrooms across Nevada.

    Nevada Senator Harry Reid, got into a verbal war with a fellow Democrat, Congressman Alan Grayson, the Florida congressman running for the Senate. The two engaged in an angry, in-your-face exchange Wednesday after Grayson interrupted Reid at a Congressional Progressive Caucus meeting, to challenge him over calls for Grayson to drop his Senate bid. Reid has endorsed Grayson’s Democratic opponent in the primary, Reid spokeswoman Kristen Orthman says the senator “took the opportunity” of Grayson’s interruption “to express his low opinion of Congressman Grayson to his face.” Reid has attacked Grayson over an ethics investigation focused on a hedge fund that Grayson ran in the Cayman Islands, allegedly out of his congressional office.

    The Washoe County Commission approved spending up to a little over two million dollars , as part of the Interlocal Agreement with the cities of Reno and Sparks to help operate the overflow homeless shelter. A portion of the money will go toward the year-round overflow shelter, while also providing case management to support individualized needs which increases funding from $1.9 million a year to $2.6 million. Besides the funding for the CAC, Washoe County pays for three full-time case management positions at the shelter.

    Officials with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office have confirmed that the body of a man who may have fallen into the Truckee River over the weekend has been found. Sheriff's spokesman Bob Harmon says volunteers with the department's HASTY Team located the body in the river near the Glendale Bridge at about 7:30 this (Wednesday) evening -- about two hours after they resumed the search. Witnesses said they saw a man fall or jump into the river Saturday night. Searchers were unable to locate the man either Saturday or Sunday, but the HASTY search team resumed the search today at about 5:00 this afternoon.

    A federal grand jury in Reno has indicted Dr. Robert Rand and eight others, incluidng Richard West Jr, on felony drug conspiracy and other charges. U.S. Attorney Daniel G. Bogden says they are using all legal tools at their disposal to discover, disrupt and dismantle illegal traffic in pharmaceutical controlled substances. And Bogden says theyare making significant progress in Nevada, and have disrupted a number of so-called pill mills. He says efforts in this area will continue, as they try to reverse the trend of illegal trafficking of prescription drugs. Rand operated "Rand Family Care," in Reno, West and the other defendents were employees of a local Ford dealership.

    An inmate serving up to 10 years in prison for felony drunken driving, walked away from a downtown Carson city work crew Wednesday afternoon. The Nevada Department of Corrections reported Michael David Lillie walked away at about 1 p.m. They described him as white, about 6 feet tall, 190 pounds with red hair, bald on top, with hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeved blue shirt and black work boots. He had been paroled once, violated the parole and ended up at the Stewart Conservation Camp April 8th. If anyone sees him they are asked to call 911 or their local law enforcement agency.
