The Sparks Police Department is reporting a shooting in the area of McCarran and Nichols just after 3:00 this yesterday.

Thanks to an $800,000 grant from the William N. Pennington Foundation, money for the Traner Pool project is in hand, with the pool expected to open by next summer. Construction will start in February, and Reno City Council's Oscar Delgado talks about a couple new features.

The State of Nevada has freed a man who spent more than twenty years in prison for a murder he did not commit.

Sparks High School has been named a "Model Professional Learning Community at Work" by Solution Tree. It is one of only 13 high schools across the country picked by the group, and the ONLY school in the Silver State chosen

The Sparks Police Department continues investigating a shooting in the area of McCarran and Nichols just after 3:00 this afternoon. Police say two men engaged in a gun battle near McCarran and Nichols that ended up in the Home Suites Apartment complex. One person was shot and has been taken to a local hospital for treatment. There's no word yet on that person's conditions. Officers on scene say all parties involved have been detained. They also say they've found several crashed vehicles, and it appears four or five vehicles were damaged by gunfire. Investigators say that multiple males and females were involved and it is too soon to say who was involved in what capacity.

The Sparks Police Department is reporting a shooting in the area of McCarran and Lincoln at about 3:00 this afternoon. The area had been closed to traffic for nearly an hour, however is now open. Police are not releasing any additional information at this time since the investigation has just begun.
