The man who was awaiting trial for making threats against Carson City judge John Tatro has died in prison. John Aston had felony charges levied against him for arson, aggravated stalking and discharging a firearm in to a residence.

The Transportation Security Administration, or TSA, has implemented new procedures for carry on luggage at 280 airports across the country, including Reno Tahoe International. The new rules from the agency require all electronics larger than a cell phone to be removed for x-ray screening, and that includes portable speakers, children's toys, Kindles, and tablets.

Just before midnight Friday, Sparks Police arrested Nevada Wolfpack assistant coach Jeff Nady under suspicion of DUI after he took out a freeway exit sign.

It hasn't happened here in the Truckee Meadows, but other states have had cases of needles in chocolate bars, meth added to a package of Smarties that sickened a two year old, and cyanide-laced Pixie Sticks. Reno Police's Tim Broadway says parents also need to look for marijuana laced candy.

Fire crews from both Reno and Sparks Fire departments last night knocked down a blaze at Mountain Meadows Townhomes in Sparks near the intersection of Wedekind and El Rancho. At least four engines responded to the fire and crews were able to limit the damage to one unit. The fire began in the bushes. One person was inside the building but made it out safely.

A new Nevada poll says Senator Dean Heller is trailing challenger Danny Tarkanian. The poll of 500 likely republican voters is 44% for Tark 38 % for Heller with 17% undecided. Tarkanian also has higher approval ratings than Heller and President Trump’s approval among Republicans is also very high, 86% of respondents say they are more likely to support a candidate who “actively supported the President’s agenda.”

Based on a Secret Witness tip, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect for Wednesday's robbery of a Rainbow Market in Sun Valley. 18-year-old Anthony Shirley is charged so far with one count of robbery with a deadly weapon. Sheriff's Spokesman Bob Harmon says Shirley is believed to be the person seen in surveillance photos wearing a UNLV sweatshirt. Shirley is not so far connected to any other robberies, but investigators continue looking for the other robber from the Rainbow Market case.
