A Reno man has been arrested in connection with a string of convenience store robberies that began last weekend.

A tip led authorities to 21-year-old Harry Puapuaga. Police say he has confessed.

The robberies started last Sunday at the 7-Eleven at 7500 N. Virginia St. and then the McCarran Mart on Stead Blvd... then to the 7-Eleven on 15th St. in Sparks... and the Jackson’s on Stead Blvd. before returning Wednesday morning to the 7-Eleven on North Virginia St.

Both the Reno and Sparks police departments began investigating the case. Reno police received a tip on Puapuaga and the Regional Crime Suppress Unit put him under surveillance. A short time later detectives interviewed him. Police say it was during that interview that Puapuaga is said to have confessed. Among the evidence investigators gathered was a gun believed to have been used in the robberies.

Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is opening their resort today and Saturday to skiers and boarders. It's only a two day opening, so you can take some runs in the sun.

The Atlantis Casino Resort has received an award for conserving energy, saving water, and making their hotel rooms more efficient. The casino was recently named the Most Sustainable Hotel or Motel in Nevada by the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association.

The man who was sent to prison in June for carrying a gun without a conceal carry permit, and was waiting to stand trail for terrorizing Carson City Judge John Tatro, has died.

Last night (Thursday) fire crews from both Reno and Sparks Fire departments knocked down a blaze at Mountain Meadows Townhomes in Sparks near the intersection of Wedekind and El Rancho. At least four engines responded to the fire and crews were able to limit the damage to one unit. The fire began in the bushes. One person was inside the building but made it out safely....

Let's get this out of the way first, Nevada Day is next Tuesday, but many of the celebrations take place this Saturday. The 79th Nevada Day Parade is Saturday in Carson City. It is the largest and longest-running admission's day celebration in the nation. Parade activities will start at 8 a.m. with a hot air balloon launch. Another event kicking off at 8 a.m. is the Nevada Day Classic Run/Walk. More than 500 runners and walkers are expected. At 10 a.m., military craft will fly over the streets to signal the start of the parade. The parade will begin at the intersection of William and Carson streets and finish at 1 to 2 p.m.....
