Let's get this out of the way first, Nevada Day is next Tuesday, but many of the celebrations take place this Saturday. The 79th Nevada Day Parade is Saturday in Carson City. It is the largest and longest-running admission's day celebration in the nation. Parade activities will start at 8 a.m. with a hot air balloon launch. Another event kicking off at 8 a.m. is the Nevada Day Classic Run/Walk. More than 500 runners and walkers are expected. At 10 a.m., military craft will fly over the streets to signal the start of the parade. The parade will begin at the intersection of William and Carson streets and finish at 1 to 2 p.m.....

The Las Vegas shooter's brother has been arrested for suspicion of possession of child porn in Southern California.

A Reno man has been arrested in connection with a string of convenience store robberies since last weekend.

A tip led authorities to 21-year-old Harry Puapuaga and he confessed, Reno police announced in a statement.

The robberies started Oct. 22 at the 7-Eleven at 7500 N. Virginia St. and also included the McCarran Mart on Stead Blvd... then to the 7-Eleven on 15th St. in Sparks... and the Jackson’s on Stead Blvd. before returning Wednesday morning to the 7-Eleven on North Virginia St.

Both the Reno and Sparks police departments began investigating the case. Reno police received a tip on Puapuaga and the Regional Crime Suppress Unit put him under surveillance. A short time later detectives interviewed him and he confessed, police said. The evidence they got included a gun.

After four years, the Nevada Department of Agriculture is terminating its cooperative agreement with the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign. That group sent notice they would not be fulfilling the agreement, and the NDA now seeks a new coordinating partner that has the tools and resources needed to manage feral livestock.

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks has released a comprehensive public report on the August 19, 2016 Officer Involved Shooting incident involving the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol. On that date, WCSO deputies and NHP troopers were confronted by Kyle Zimbelman, who led them on a high-risk vehicle pursuit, drove his vehicle at officers, striking one Deputy, and fired multiple rounds at them from a .40 caliber handgun. Finding that the involved deputies and troopers were justified in their actions, DA Hicks has released a 50 page report detailing the incident and subsequent investigation and analysis of the case.
