This morning at about 6:30, a pedestrian was crossing Center Street north of 1st Street and was hit by a vehicle. The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

A Reno man has been convicted of domestic battery.

The state legislatures interim finance committee has approved spending more that a million dollars to fight the opioid epidemic. The plan, pushed by the Attorney General's Office includes incinerators to dispose of drugs, supplying anti overdose medications to first responders, and a full time Nevada investigator on the FBI's opioid task force. It's being funded by the Volkswagen fraud settlement. Adam Laxalt says a Nevadan dies every day from a drug overdose.

A Reno man has been convicted of domestic battery. 52 year old Tyler Stolz ran his wife over with a car. He's facing up to 15 years in prison. The jury deliberated just over an hour before returning a verdict. Stoltz was arrested by Reno Police in June, after an investigation into the May domestic incident. The victim was treated for a broken leg. Responding officers determined that the call involved a domestic dispute and began an investigation to determine if the accident was deliberate. Based on witness interviews and evidence from the scene, Stoltz was ultimately arrested and formal criminal charges were filed against him by the Washoe County D.A.
