The Reno Police Department is notifying the public of several suspicious incidents over the past month.

The Bureau of Land Management Carson City District Office, Fish & Wildlife Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Nevada Division of Forestry in conjunction with Nevada State Parks have announced the lifting of fire restrictions that have been in place since June 30th.

A fatal crash that had westbound I-80 closed west of Cisco Grove has been cleared, and the road has been reopened.

After long hearings and many complaints from current residents, Washoe County planners have approved a housing development in Cold Springs. The plan is to build 5,000 homes and a town center over ten years. Current residents are concerned about traffic flowing to the Stone Gate Development. Reno and Washoe County are in the midst of a critical housing shortage. The next step for the proposed project is the Reno City Council. The planning commission vote was unanimously in favor of the project.

The Reno Police Department is notifying the public of several suspicious incidents over the past month. Police have been notified of several instances in which women have reported being followed by suspicious subjects. Some of the women reported being with their children at the time of the incident Most of the incidents have occurred in parking lots of large retail businesses during normal business hours. The women have all said they have one or more men following in a suspicious manner. Police are concerned about the behavior, although there have been no crimes reported in connection with any of these incidents. Reno Police are asking anyone who may have information about these incidents to notify Reno Police or Secret Witness.

At a Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing, Senator Catherine Cortez Masto advocated allowing state and local law enforcement to shut down websites used by human traffickers. Federal criminal prosecutors are already authorized to do this, but acting alone, they have been unable to prevent the rapid growth of the online sex trade. Sen. Cortez Masto co-sponsored two anti-trafficking bills that recently passed in the Senate.
