A south Reno resident is Washoe County’s first case of hantavirus since 2006. The case is one of about 728 hantavirus cases ever recorded in the United States since it was identified in the Four Corners area of the United States Southwest in 1993.

Alchemy, a software services company, announced this week, they're moving their headquarters to Reno. The start up will open shop initially with around 35 employees, but plans to expand to about 400 when they're fully staffed.

Sierra Nevada College, an Incline Village based private college, has just opened an office at Truckee Meadows Community College called the TMCC Extension Center that will offer four year degree programs at the Dandini campus.

A federal judge has given the RTC the green light to begin recording audio along with the video surveillance on city buses in Reno despite objections from the bus drivers' union that says it's an illegal invasion of privacy.

Reno Police are warning the public about a series of similar suspicious incidents over the past month. Police have been notified of instances in which women have reported being followed by suspicious subjects. Some of the women say they were with their children at the time they were followed. Most of the incidents have occurred in parking lots of large retail businesses during normal business hours. The women say they have seen one or more men following them in a suspicious manner. Police are concerned about the behavior, although there have been no crimes reported in connection with any of these incidents. Reno Police are asking anyone who may have information about any of these to notify Reno Police or Secret Witness.
