Washoe County health officials say the first human case of hantavirus in Washoe County since 2006 has been found, following an exam of a South Reno resident. The disease is spread when a person inhales the particles from deer mouse droppings, and it can take one to eight weeks before flu like symptoms appear......

The good news is progress on the Woodchuck fire has been stopped.

Firefighters have stopped forward progress on the Woodchuck fire. Winds were a challenge as firefighter battled to protect homes in west Reno, threatened by the Fire, burning near the Hunters Creek trail head. Reno Fire Chief Dave Cochran tells KOLO 8, winds have been shifting and pushing the fire around, and delayed the air assault this afternoon.

Meantime, Truckee Meadows Chief Charlie Moore says the fire started at a construction site on Woodchuck, destroying two trailers, then burning downhill.(

A woman is hospitalized in stable condition after a shooting in Reno last night. Just before 6:30, Officers responded to a residence on Claremont Street on a report of gunfire. When they arrived, police say they found a woman who had been shot. Officers then located the victim's estranged husband, Jeremy Sherburne, who they believe is responsible for the shooting. Sherburne was arrested and booked into Washoe County Jail for several charges including domestic battery, assault with a deadly weapon and attempted homicide. No one else was hurt in the incident.

It's estimated the fire has burned some 60 acres and is now 25 percent contained. Officials with Washoe County lifted evacuation advisories at about 8:00 this (Monday) evening. Fire officials say at it's peak the fire threatened more than 100 structures. There has been no damage or loss to structures in the area of the fire. A man was killed after being struck by a car near Gardnerville last night. The crash happened on US-395 at Industrial Court at around 8:00pm. According to investigators, the man was laying in the roadway when he was struck by the car. He was pronounced dead on scene. Officers say the driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and added that it would've been difficult for the driver to see someone in the middle of the road, as the roadway is dark. The man who was killed has not yet been identified.

The 54th annual "National Championship Air Races" wrapped up yesterday. Official numbers have not been released, but organizers are calling it another successful event. There were some new races this year to appeal to a younger audience, like drone racing. But overall, air race lovers like David Medders, just enjoy the authenticity of the event.
