Douglas County is recalling all of the solar eclipse glasses that were distributed at their Minden library location. Library officials say the glasses they ordered are part of an Amazon recall. Amazon sent the library a letter saying they cannot guarantee that the glasses are safe.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong says a suspect believed to have been involved in the stabbing of one of his deputies was shot yesterday evening and taken to Renown Regional Medical Center. The sheriff says deputies were called to a report of a suspicious person at the Nugget Casino in Carson City at about 6:30 in the evening. Shortly after a deputy arrived a scuffle began during which the suspect reportedly stabbed the deputy in the forehead with a knife. The sheriff says the struggle continued and the deputy shot the suspect. The suspect was taken to Renown with what are described as non-life threatening injuries. Furlong says the injured deputy has been taken to Carson-Tahoe Medical Center, also with non-life threatening injuries. The names of the suspect and the deputy have not been released.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has updated information on last night's stabbing of one of his deputies and the wounding of the suspect. The sheriff says at 6:09 yesterday evening a deputy notified dispatchers that he was getting out of his patrol vehicle to check on a suspicious person near the Carson City Nugget . 9-11 dispatchers received multiple calls of shots fired in that area three minutes later. An initial investigation indicates that when the Deputy Sheriff contacted the suspect, a physical fight followed, and the Deputy was slashed with a knife on the forehead. Investigators say the deputy drew his weapon and fired on the suspect five times. Other deputies arrived and found the deputy with severe head wounds and a suspect with multiple gunshot wounds. The deputy was taken to Carson Tahoe Medical Center while the suspect was taken to Renown Medical Center. Neither is reported to have suffered life threatening wounds. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has assumed control of the investigation.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve has issued a statement regarding President Trump’s visit to Reno next week. She says she’s grateful that the American Legion has chosen to hold this year’s national convention in Reno. She encourages the President to deliver a strong message rejecting racism, hate and violence during his visit. Schieve says Reno is an inclusive city that prides itself on kindness and compassion and condemns what she calls the hateful acts that have taken place in our country recently.
