The state has released a look at Nevada’s economy, that indicates greater health than previously reported. After revisiting data for jobs created in 2016 and the employment rate, the state actually added 41,000 jobs and had an unemployment rate of 5.7 percent. The state originally reported a job gain of 32,500 and unemployment rate of 5.8 percent but now has more complete information.

Reno Police are looking for the person who fired shots yesterday afternoon in south Reno. Police first received the call just after 4:30 in a parking lot at Mira Loma Drive and McCarran Boulevard. When they arrived they found a parked car that had been hit with gunfire. Investigators later learned that a dark-colored Mazda was seen leaving the area. No one was injured.

As Nevada seeks to be the renewable energy leader, the legislature will consider an ambitious Renewable Portfolio Standard, that would require 50% of the states energy to come from renewable sources by the year 2030. The bill is by assemblyman Chris Brooks, who says the goal is achievable, and good for utility rates consumers will be paying in the future.

A warrant search of a home involving local police and the FBI is being conducted near Caughlin Parkway, inly residents are currently being allowed in the area.
