The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the greater Reno area. The city of Reno has Sandbag filling locations available at old Moana swimming pool, The Nevada Peace officers memorial at Idlewild park, and the public works yard on commercial row. To say Dennis Hof and 22 other families who lost homes in the Little Valley Fire are disappointed with the negligence and in-attention that started last October's blaze, is an understatement.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval announced Saturday that President Trump has declared northern Nevada a Major Disaster Area from the severe storms of January 5th to 14th. Half of the yearly rainfall fell in the space of 10 days, and five times the January average snowfall fell in the Sierras.

The governor's request identified the counties of Washoe, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey, Carson City, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe and the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. 88 county roads and 20 state highways were flooded or washed out, and at least 36 homes were seriously damaged. The total official damage assessment was $14.82 million.

FEMA will provide federal disaster assistance to state, tribal, and local recovery efforts.
