The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a report last night that a student had made threats that he intended to bring a gun to the Carson Valley Middle School (Friday) and quote “shoot up the school.”

A 24-year old Sparks man has been arrested for allegedly producing and possessing child pornography. Sparks Police started with a report of a possible child molestation involving a 3-year old child. During the early stages of the investigation, officers discovered child pornography. Police say Dillon Shattuck Rogers-Early had produced child pornography, and was also in possession of child pornography.

He's accused of lewd contact with a child, and faces several felony charges.

Record precipitation has been a flooding challenge, but Federal Water Master Chad Blanchard is saying the drought is over. Lake Tahoe has risen three and a half feet, Donner is nearly full, and other reservoirs have too much water. Boca and Prosser Lakes have been releasing excess water for flood control purposes. Bill Hauck, the senior hydrologist with Truckee Meadows Water Authority says the water in Lake Tahoe is good for another two or three years.

NV Energy has learned that a Person or persons falsely identifying themselves as employees of the company are calling customers and making deceptive threats about their electric service. The number also falsely represents itself as NV Energy. NV Energy does not call customers to demand immediate payment for any reason. Customers who may be at risk of having their power disconnected because of nonpayment will receive a 10-day and 48-hour notice via U.S. Mail.

Sheriff’s Deputies identified the phone from which the threats were sent, and traced it to a residence in Chichester Estates. They arrested the 12 year old boy who had that phone, he admitted sending the threat but claimed he wasn't serious. The only weapons recovered at the suspect residence were a BB gun and two knives, there was no evidence the juvenile ever had a real gun or access to firearms.

Carson City is warning area residents to use extreme caution when taking part in outdoor recreation activities. Officials say with extremely saturated soils, erosion, and storm water run-off, many of the City’s parks and recreation facilities remain closed. They say several parks, trails and open spaces throughout Carson City have sustained more than two-million dollars in flood damage. The City is actively working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the State of Nevada Department of Public Safety and the Division of Emergency Management to assess damaged areas and identify safety concerns. City officials say while some repairs are already underway, others may take up to six months depending on the complexity and scope of work required.
