Residents in flood-prone areas should be on high alert. The highest risk of flooding is in urban areas and along creeks, streams and poor drainage areas. A High Wind Warning is in effect until midnight tonight. Strong winds are expected to intensify on the ridges and foothills this morning with downslope winds developing later in the day. Wind-prone areas such as I-580 through Washoe Valley could see gusts as strong as 90 mph.

Flood-prone areas near small streams, creeks, ditches and culverts have a possibility of flooding through Friday. Residents can report flooding by calling 328-21-80. The county says residents may not see crews in their communities immediately, as road crews will be responding to all calls on a prioritized basis.
