The National Weather Service in Reno has updated a Flood Warning for the Truckee River At Reno affecting Washoe County, the East Fork Carson River Below Markleeville affecting Alpine and Douglas Counties. Meteorologists have changed Forecast flooding from Minor to Moderate severity for the Truckee River At Vista affecting Storey and Washoe Counties, For the Truckee River...including Reno minor flooding is occurring...with Moderate flooding forecast. The weather service forecast indicates the Truckee River will transition from minor to moderate flooding at about three tomorrow morning and peak sometime between four and six in the morning. They say the river should be declining at around seven a-m.and drop into the minor flooding stage around nine.
For the East Fork Carson River...including Markleeville. minor flooding is occurring and is expected to continue.
Run off from heavy rain that moved through much of the Sierra will continue to cause rises on area rivers throughout tonight. A rapid rise is likely to occur on the Truckee and Carson Rivers Due to saturated soils in the Sierra and the foothills and valleys.
