A winter weather advisory is in effect for the greater Reno, Carson City and Minden areas through 10 p.m. and then a Winter Storm Watch Saturday and Sunday with several feet of snow in the high country, and several inches on valley floors. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow. The warning is in effect from midnight Saturdya night to 4:00 Monday morning. A winter storm watch has been cancelled. The Weather Service says heavy snow is expected to bring six to 14 inches of snow for valley locations and one to two feet for foothills and areas above five-thousand feet, including Virginia City. It warns the wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour on Sunday may lead to areas of blowing and driving snow. They're cautioning that travel into the Sierra on Sunday may be nearly impossible.

Reno Police arrested a man following a standoff on Crampton Street near Wells this afternoon. Police say detectives determined that 22 year old James Lynch, a wanted felony suspect, was living at the apartment complex. Officers were attempting to serve a warrant for Lynch's arrest, but he reportedly refused to cooperate. A Reno SWAT team arrived on scene to ensure that a woman with Lynch was not harmed. They also determined that there were no other people inside the apartment. The incident began at around 2:30 this afternoon and Lynch surrendered about two hours later. The woman has not been arrested.
