Water levels at lake Tahoe have been surging, as winter storms blanket the region with snow and rain. The lake has risen over a foot in the last week and 2 feet over the last month. It is now one and a half feet above its natural rim.

RTC transit services will be on a regular schedule tomorrow , Martin Luther King Day. RTC administrative offices will be closed, however Passenger Services will remain open from seven in the morning to seven in the evening. Passenger Services can be reached at (775) 348-RIDE.

It is now one and a half feet above its natural rim. Hydrologists say storms over the past couple of weeks have dumped more than 33 billion gallons of water into the lake.
