The flooding and snowstorms that battered northern Nevada last week have taken a toll on Interstate 80. The Nevada Department of Transportation says I-80 travelers should expect delays this week on the west side of town as crews work to repair potholes from the Keystone exit on the edge of downtown all the way to the California state line. #StateOfTheState

Another atmospheric river is heading over the Sierra and into the Truckee Meadows Wednesday into Thursday. This one isn't supposed to be as warm as the last one, with a heavy snow fall expected in the higher elevations. But higher temps in the Reno Sparks area tomorrow and the Thursday could mean that more flooding is a strong possibility. Nina Oakley with the Western Region Climate Center.

A 2 alarm fire tore through a business in Sparks early this morning, gutting the building. Sierra Nevada Equipment Inc., located on Pittman near Rock Boulevard, does pressure washing, and uses a variety of chemicals in the process.

The Washoe County School District is hoping to keep the norovirus out of our schools this year, and are providing tips to keep you from catching it.

Washoe County Health District officials say a 70 year old Reno woman, who had spent time in India with a leg infection, died last September of an antibiotic resistant bacteria known as CRE when she returned to Nevada. The woman went for care here in Reno in mid August, and following testing, the Center for Disease Control confirm she had the bacteria. The Washoe County Health District's, Dr. Randall Todd says she was treated with 26 different antibiotics, and none of them worked.

A Reno man was arrested for involuntary manslaughter on Saturday, after reportedly accidentally shooting an acquaintance, at a hotel on the 1000 block of East Sixth Street. Twenty three year old Deandre Richie was also booked on suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon without a permit and buying or receiving stolen property. Police described Richie as “impaired” while he was handling a gun a little after one in the morning in a hotel room. The gun fired and the bullet hit a man in the chest. An ambulance took the wounded man to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say that there was no altercation or malicious intent by the defendant to shoot the victim. Richie was arrested for manslaughter. Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.

If you live in Lyon County, you're encouraged to keep your flood mitigation plans in place for now. The storms did a lot of damage recently in Lyon County, and officials there want you keep your sandbags, and pick up more if you need need them in anticipation of the upcoming atmospheric river this week.
