Washoe County has declared a state of emergency in advance of expected flooding this weekend.

The Truckee River is expected to reach flood stage Sunday morning, and Jon Middlestat says they are very certain about their forecast, he says this is not a "Wait and See" issue, it's for real.

The National Weather Service has issued a River Flood Warning for the Truckee River in Reno and Sparks, as well as for the Carson and Walker Rivers. A warning is the highest level of Weather Service alerts.

The warning is in effect from approximately 1 p.m. Sunday to 11 p.m. Monday. Anticipated peak flooding will be between 5-8 p.m. Sunday in Reno, and 3-7 a.m. Monday in Sparks.
