While we expect to see some costly damage from flooding, as it impacts the downtown Reno Core, and the Sparks industrial area, two key area's of economic activity in Northern Nevada, what everyone wants to avoid is the loss of life. Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and other public officials and emergency managers are warning people to avoid unneeded driving, and especially to stay away from rivers, streams, lake and ponds until the danger passes.

The Truckee River crested in downtown Reno around 12:45AM this morning. The river crested in Sparks a few hours later, according to city Spokesman Adam Mayberry.

Interstate 80 is back open after a mud/snow slide that happened Sunday afternoon west of Reno. The slide occurred between the Vista point and Donner Lake Road. 80 was closed in both directions for several miles for almost a day. The road was reopened for full travel about 11AM this morning.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve says she hates to be a broken record, but she continues to remind the curious, and any thrill seekers, to stay away from the Truckee River and other bodies of water until the danger has passed, and it hasn't yet.

The flood warning will continue into Moday About 1,300 homes have been evacuated in the Qulici area in South Reno so far. Residents are being sheltered at Wooster High School, which is currently full. All evacuees should go to Sparks High. Sandbag locations at Idewild Park have been closed due to anticipated flooding in the area. Govenor Brian Sandoval has ordered all state government offices in northwestern nevada to be closed tomorrow. For questions on flooding, residents should call 211. The Flood Warning continues until Tuesday morning. Reno's Idlewild & Wingfield Parks are flooded, downtown Reno flooded from 1st St. on north to Island Ave & Riveralk. All downtown Reno bridges are closed. Access to across the river right now includes the Wells overpass and Keystone bridge. Autumn Hills Drive and Celeste Drive residential area is in a recommended evacuation. 30 to 40 homes are affected. For questions on flooding, residents should call 211. - Westbound I-80 is closed at the state line due to a mudslide. Traffic is being turned around at at Gold Ranch

-US 395 is closed north of Reno in Lassen County around Doyle.

-Kietzke Lane is closed southbound between Galletti and Kuenzli because of high flow in the Truckee River.

-More than 43-hundred NV energy customers are without power in Norhtern Nevada because of weather outages.

-Storey county has issued a boil water order in Lockwood for the next 48 hours due to a broken water line.

Sandbag pickup locations are available across the region.

Governor Sandoval has declared a state of emergency due to the severe weather system developing in northern Nevada and the consequent danger to life and damage to property.

The City of Sparks is anticipating shutting down roads leading into the industrial area at 1:00 p.m.today.
