Gusty winds, rain and Sierra snow are expected throughout the day. High Wind Warnings are in effect until 10pm. We also have Blizzard Warnings in effect for the eastern Sierra and around Tahoe through tomorrow morning. We'll check the Kolo forecast in a minute.

Governor Brian Sandoval says Reno and Sparks learned a lot from prior floods, and that had a positive impact on the flooding. Shelters were open, and mitigation efforts started early along riversides, and people at risk were given aid.

Governor Sandoval declared a state of emergency due to the severe weather system in northern Nevada and danger to life and to property. The Governor toured Reno Sunday with local leaders.

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve says she hates to be a broken record, but she continues to remind the curious, and any thrill seekers, to stay away from the Truckee River and other bodies of water until the danger has passed, and it hasn't yet.

Did mercury leach into the soil near the Southeast Connector during the storm that just passed through? It may have, but it could also be several days before an environmental team can confirm or deny this. Governor Sandoval is assessing the situation.
