Western Nevada College is about to embark on a huge expansion of their cadaver laboratory, used by science and nursing students, thanks to a grant from the William N. Pennington Foundation. $1.46 million dollars was given to the college, and it's the biggest grant the college has ever received. WNC will replace outdated equipment and double the size of the lab. Sparks police are looking the man who robbed the Game Stop at 171 Disc Drive on Friday night. The man brandished a handgun, took an undisclosed amount of cash, and got away on foot. The suspect is described as black, mid-to-late 20s, about 6 ft tall with an average build. He was wearing dark clothing with a hoody pulled over his head, and was wearing sunglasses. The Game Stop robbery happened 24 hours after another armed robbery at a nearby Qdoba, which had a similar MO, but with a different suspect description.

A Reno man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a series of vehicle thefts and burglaries between June and July of 2015. Dozens of victims across the community suffered loss or damage to recovered property vandalized by the defendant. 22 year old Ashton Spohn, was sentenced on five counts of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, four counts of Burglary and one count of Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle to a term of 30 years in prison. In all cases, Spohn took advantage of unlocked doors and may have been encouraged by visible property inside the vehicles.

A Reno man has been sentenced to life for the stabbing death of his 54 year old wife. The stabbing occurred in the couple’s South Reno apartment in November, 2014. 80 year old Daniel Pancake, was sentenced this morning in Washoe County District Court on one count of First Degree Murder with the Use of a Deadly Weapon after having pled guilty in September of this year. Pancake murdered his wife in front of their 11 year old son.

A Carson City man has been given consecutive sentences after pleading guilty to sexual assault and robbery. 27-year-old Nathan Oakie was sentenced to life with parole eligibility after 35 years for sexual assault of a minor, and 60-180 months for robbery. Sheriff Ken Furlong says the robbery happened at a 7-Eleven store on North Carson Street in May 2016. The man walked into the store, showed a gun to the clerk and filled a bag with bottles of alcohol before running off. Furlong says the weapon, since recovered, is a toy gun. At the time, Oakie was already a suspect in the sexual assault of a six-year-old.

The Reno Police Department is asking for the public's' help in locating a missing 12 year old girl. She was last seen around seven this (Friday) evening in the area of 1450 Idlewild Drive. Her name is Frosh Scott. She's five feet seven inches tall and weighs 134 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue top. Anyone who believes they have seen the child or know her whereabouts is asked to call Reno Police Dispatch at 334-2121.
