A former Culinary Union political chief, a Department of Veterans Affairs information technology project manager and a marketing services official at a business advisory firm are applying for a Nevada state Senate vacancy created by Ruben Kihuen's election to Congress. Clark County officials say that Yvanna Cancela (kan-SEL'-ah), Melissa Clary and Justin Campese submitted paperwork by the noon deadline for consideration by the Clark County Commission. The seven-member commission is expected to meet next Tuesday to appoint one to serve in the Legislature.

Sparks Police are asking for help in a robbery that happened at a restaurant in Spanish Springs earlier this week. They say a man in dark clothing entered the restaurant at 151 Disc Drive a few minutes before ten Tuesday night. The man is about 18 to 25 years old, about five feet ten inches tall with a thin build. Police say there were three people that left the restaurant just before the robbery and they would like to talk with those people. The Sparks Police Department has released more information in Wednesday's arrest of 30-year-old Kyle Howe. Police say the Regional Crime Suppression Unit had been investigating Howe who had an active Felony warran. He rammed a detective vehicle on Tuesday night and escaped. Wednesday night he rammed two detective vehicles and tried to escape. Howe and a female passenger, 25-year-old Courtney Icenhower had to be forceably removed from the vehicle and were arrested. Howe is being held on no bail on numerous charges, including three counts of assault with a Deadly Weapon, Trafficking Methamphetamine and Obstructing. Icenhower was charged with one count of misdemeanor Obstructing, and is being held on $2,500.00 bail.
