Reno man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a series of vehicle thefts and burglaries between June and July of 2015. Dozens of victims across the community suffered loss or damage to recovered property vandalized by the defendant. 22 year old Ashton Spohn, was sentenced on five counts of Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, four counts of Burglary and one count of Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle to a term of 30 years in prison. In all cases, Spohn took advantage of unlocked doors and may have been encouraged by visible property inside the vehicles.

Not everyone is destined to earn a four year degree at a University. And many of the careers of today and tomorrow won't require that anyway. So, are schools doing enough to prepare people for the world of work? Not yet, according to Don Tatro of the Builders Association of Northern Nevada.

A Carson City man has been given consecutive sentences after pleading guilty to sexual assault and robbery. 27-year-old Nathan Oakie was sentenced to life with eligibility for parole after 35 years for sexual assault of a minor, and 60-180 months for robbery. Sheriff Ken Furlong says the robbery happened at a 7-Eleven store on North Carson Street in May 2016. The man walked into the store, showed what turned out to be a toy gun to the clerk and filled a bag with bottles of alcohol before running off. At the time, Oakie was already a suspect in the sexual assault of a six-year-old.

A wanted alleged sex offender has been arrested. The United States Marshals Service says Servero Herrera, Jr. was arrested, without incident, in the parking lot of the Goodwill store located on 6407 South Virginia Street. Herrea was taken into custody for an outstanding arrest warrant from the Seattle Police Department alleging Rape of a Child in the 1st Degree. Herrera has been booked into the Washoe County Detention Center by the Reno Police Department and is awaiting extradition from Seattle officials.

Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury will retry 36 year old Peter Elvik, in the death of William Gibson over 20 years ago. The body of 63 year-old Gibson was discovered at the Carson City Rifle and Pistol range on August 31st, 1995.

A Reno man wanted on a felony warrant is facing additional charges after police say he tried to run from them. 30 year old Kyle Howe was wanted for failure to appear in court after bail. The Reno Police Department says, undercover units tracked him down near Plumas Street and Berrum Lane just after 10:30 last night. They used a vehicle to block him in before taking him into custody. Howe suffered minor injuries in the incident and was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Washoe County Jail. He is now facing charges of being an ex felon in possession of a firearm and battery with a deadly weapon.
