Conservation groups are vowing to fight a lawsuit filed against the feds by attorneys general for 18 states, including Nevada. The regulations would allow the federal government to designate area of critical habitat for endangered species, where they don't actually live.

Nevada is one of 18 states getting federal grants to develop early learning programs for preschool-age children from low- to moderate-income families. Education Secretary of John B. King Jr. announced that Nevada has been allocated almost $12.85 million of the $247 million being awarded under the Preschool Development Grant program.

A Reno man has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support and resources to terrorists. Acting Assistant Attorney General Mary B. McCord says 42-year-old Balwinder Singh attempted to provide material support and resources to terrorists, to create violence and disruption. Singh admitted conspiring with others to support terrorist attacks in India as part of a movement to create an independent Sikh state in the Punjab region of India. Singh faces up to 15 years in prison.

A Mormon missionary from Elko was severely injured in Louisiana when he was hit by a car on his bike. Landon Howe sustained a number of injuries in the crash including a fractured skull, and law enforcement believes his helmet likely saved his life. Howe is in a medically induced coma until his condition stabilizes, and there's a go fund me account sent up in Howe's name to help pay for expenses.
