Two women convicted of Medicaid fraud have been sentenced to a year in jail, and restitution of more than 18 thousand dollars. The investigation began after the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit discovered that the defendants had conspired to create false records for patients in need of rehabilitative mental health services. 40 year old Elizabeth Gerton and 48 year old Charlene Screeton-Petri then submitted those claims to Medicaid for payment without providing any services to those patients. The Attorney General's office says the fraud was committed between September 2014 and February 2015.

Reno Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed a pedestrian at the intersection of 4th Street and Washington this (Tuesday) evening at about 6:45. Reno's Major Accident Investigation team responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation. Initial indications are that the pedestrian was struck by two vehicles. The driver of the first vehicle did not stop after hitting the pedestrian who was likely in a crosswalk. The driver of the second vehicle did stop and is cooperating with the investigation. The first vehicle is a small passenger vehicle, likely with front end damage. Anyone who may have information is asked to call the Reno Police Department's traffic division or Secret Witness.

Officials with the Reno Police Department say the driver involved in the hit and run that left a pedestrian critically injured Saturday night has turned himself in. Police say 26-year-old Brian Pippen of California surrendered himself Sunday. Police say it's believed alcohol and marijuana were factors in the crash. Pippen has been charged with Felony hit and run, Failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian, and Driving without a valid driver's license. The victim remains in critical condition with life threatening injuries. That person's identity has not been released.
