It's not something that happens every election cycle, but one Nevada Republican running for office is telling his opponent to beat it, and resign his current position.

The Washoe County School District Naming Committee has chosen Sky Ranch as the name for the new middle school in Spanish Springs, the site of the very first Reno Air Races.

Two people are dead following a head-on crash on U.S. 395 in Mono County near Bodie. It happened late Wednesday afternoon. CHP investigators say Connor Poggetto of Sacramento was driving a Dodge pickup northbound on U.S. 395 south of Highway 270. For unknown reasons, as he approached a right-hand curve, he crossed over the center line, hitting a Mazda head-on, killing the driver and passenger inside. Poggetto was taken to Renown in Reno with minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Mazda are from Northern Nevada. Their identities will not be released until family has been notified. California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval today announced that he and First Lady Kathleen Sandoval are separating with plans to divorce. The Governor and his wife have been married for 27 years. The Governor published a release in which he says that It’s no secret that the demands of public life are hard on a marriage. He continued, saying that their marriage has been affected in a way neither of them had envisioned or expected. He asks that his families privacy be respected during this difficult time. Sandoval was first elected governor of Nevada in 2010. His second term is due to expire in January 2019.
