A Fernley man has been arrested after being shot by deputies. 39-year-old Jeremy Random is charged with felony eluding and assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon. Lyon County Sheriff's Office says shortly before 11PM August 9 deputies tried to stop a driver who was speeding through a residential area with no headlights. Deputies stopped chasing the driver for safety reasons as he headed toward an area with heavy traffic. They caught up with him again about half an hour later at the Pilot gas station after he drove the wrong way on Interstate 80, and rammed his car with theirs to try to stop him. The suspect then showed a weapon to two deputies, who shot him. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, then sent to Lyon County jail. His wound was from a bullet fragment.
