The hospitalization of an inmate with a possible life-threatening condition, at the Washoe County Detention Facility August 4th, has developed into an investigation of the Washoe County Sheriff's Office by the Sparks Police Department. The inmate was taken in August 3rd on misdemeanor charges, and was treated and released for an unknown condition at Renown before he was sent to the facility. About a day later, the inmate was taken back to Renown due to erratic behavior. Following a second check and an all clear from doctors at Renown, the inmate was sent back to the facility again, and en route became unresponsive. Sheriff Chuck Allen made the call to Sparks PD to investigate the incident as an uninvolved agency.
