The Douglas County Sheriff's office says a 74-year-old man was killed yesterday in the crash of a glider about eight miles east of the Minden Tahoe Airport. The sheriff's office was notified a little before 3:00 Sunday afternoon that the Nevada Highway Patrol was receiving an emergency locator transmitter signal from that area. The Nevada Civil Air Patrol assisted by the U.S. Air Force located a crashed glider using that signal. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office along with the East Fork Fire Protection District located the crashed Power Glider. The pilot was found deceased in the wreckage and has been identified as 74 year old Joseph Lowenhardt of Minden. The pilot was the only occupant of the aircraft.

Five people were injured in a rollover on Mt. Rose Highway near Timberline Drive. Nevada Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 10:18 p.m. last night, when a Honda going east on the highway veered off the road and rolled down a 30- to 40-foot embankment. Three adults and two children in the vehicle were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The eastbound lane on the highway was closed for about four hours while crews worked to recover the vehicle from the embankment. The cause of the crash has not been determined, but troopers believe drugs may be a factor

The Reno/Sparks Association of REALTORS has released its July 2016 report on existing home sales in Washoe County. The report shows Washoe County single-family homes sales decreased 13 percent from a year ago in July 2015, and a 14 percent decrease from one month ago in June 2016. The median sales price hit $316,850; an increase of 9 percent from July 2015, and a 2 percent increase from June 2016. Reno's median sales price $329,750; a 9 percent increase from last July 2015. Sparks median sales price for an existing single family residence in July 2016 was $299,000; a 14 percent increase from last July.
