Truckee Meadows Fire and BLM crews are battling the Jackpot Fire near Cold Springs. The fire, which started at around 8 p.m. Saturday, is 20 percent contained after it burned about 1,700 acres and threatened about 50 structures near Cold Springs and Silver Knolls. The fire burned close to structures near Red Rock Road, about 3-4 miles north Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Department, but nothing was lost. Cold temperatures, increased humidity and low wind gusts helped crews battle the fire. Officials say evacuations are no longer necessary as of this morning. No official cause for the fire has been determined.
