    The Tule wildfire has burned an estimated 20,279 acres and is still active on the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation. Mandatory evacuations for the town of Sutcliffe and the beaches of Pyramid Lake continue.. The gym in Nixon remains open to evacuees. Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe emergency manager Don Pelt says it could be three days before electricity and water services are restored and people can return to their homes. At this time, Tribal fire officials can confirm 1 home, 3 mobile homes, and 2 vehicles have been burned in the Sutcliffe area; plus 6 structures at the unoccupied Hardscrabble Ranch have also been destroyed. Pyramid Highway and the highway from Sutcliffe to Nixon are back open, but only to local traffic.

  • 7/31/16 - 3PM - Top of the Hour Newscast
    A motorcycle rider is recovering following a crash in Sparks Sunday afternoon, according to authorities. The crash was reported before 12:30 p.m. near Victorian Avenue and Stanford Way. Sparks police said motorcyclists were speeding when the driver of an Audi tried to make a left-hand turn in front of them. Officers on scene said a female motorcycle rider hit the car and flipped over it. They said her motorcycle was then run over by a Ford truck. The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. It was not immediately clear if any citations were expected to be issued.

    Firefighters continue to battle multiple brush fires north of Reno. Several fires that make up the Virginia Mountains Complex fires have now burned 38,000 acres as of this morning. The Rock Fire has scorched 2,293 acres and is at 80% containment. This fire started burning in Washoe County north of Red Rock Road. there are no evacuations requested at this time.
