The Reno Police Department issued more than 150 citations last Thursday during a joint pedestrian safety and D-U-I campaign in downtown Reno. Officers issued citations to 92 pedestrians and 64 drivers between two in the afternoon and eleven that night. There were no D-U-I citations issued. If you've notice a drop in air quality in the Truckee Meadows, it's due to smoke coming from a large fire in Monterey County. More than 15,000 acres have burned and 20 homes have been destroyed in the fire that started July 22nd north of Big Sur. The fire is 10% contained, with no estimate of full containment. No cause has been determined and there are mandatory evacuations in surrounding areas. Because of the smoke, Washoe County Air Quality says air is unhealthy for sensitive groups.
