The Reno Police Department is working on a major injury accident in Stead involving a Regional transportation Commission bus. Police say Silver Lake Road will be closed between Sky Vista Parkway and Silver Sky Parkway for several hours. Several ambulances and a Care flight have been called to the scene.

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Reno man for ripping off the K-Mart in South Lake Tahoe, and then dropping the gun he had on him in the parking lot. 33 year old Micah Flaherty was seen running from the store with some stolen items, toward his car, when he reportedly dropped, then picked up, what appeared to be a handgun. Flaherty then took off in his silver Volkswagen. DCSO found Flaherty a short time later near highway 50 and Stateline, and recovered the items taken from K-mart, as well as drug paraphernalia and the gun, which turned out to be an air soft bb gun.

A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday, suspected of felony child abuse causing physical harm, after her daughter tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. The woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after someone alerted Child Protective Services. CPS removed the child, and took her to a hospital, where the she reportedly tested positive for drugs. She reportedly admitted to the CPS worker that her mother gave her the drugs. Once the mother was taken into custody, she reportedly confessed that she gave the child the drugs. The mother's name is not being released to protect the identity of her daughter.
