The Reno Fire Department responded to two fires that ignited within a minute of each other off of 395NB around Parr Blvd. One fire was South of Parr and was about an acre in size. The other was North of Parr and was about a half acre. No damage to property and No injuries have been reported. Two passing BLM Engines saw the fire and joined forces with Reno for a quick knock down. Cause is under investigation, but it is believed to be human caused. The north Dandini/Parr exit was temporarily closed but it has reopened.

A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested yesterday, suspected of felony child abuse causing physical harm, after her daughter tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana. The suspect, who's name is being withheld so her child is not identified, was taken into custody around 1:35 yesterday afternoon after someone alerted Child Protective Services. CPS removed the child, and took the child to a hospital, where the child did test positive, and also admitted to the CPS worker that her mother gave her the drugs. Once the mother was taken into custody, she reportedly confessed to detectives that she did give the child the drugs.

A Reno man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a 2014 stabbing murder that occurred outside a downtown Reno motel.

South Lake Tahoe Police officers say they have arrested another person in connection with a murder at the Beverly Lodge earlier this year. Police say 26-year-old Dion Jermaine Vaccaro was arrested in Oklahoma City on May 20th. He has since been extradited to California where he remains in El Dorado County Jail. Vaccaro was one of six suspects arrested in the case. They are charged with murder in connection with the death of 40-year-old Dennis Wright, who was killed after a drug deal went bad on January 30th.
