As I’m sure you’re all aware, Ella and I are terrified of giving birth. Now that we’re officially over 30, the chat around having babies comes up at least once a day. There are so many overwhelming moving parts to consider: fertility, pregnancy, physically giving birth and after all that, actually doing the parenting for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. 

Stefani is a longtime friend of the pod, with her husband Tom Birmingham being the co-host of Hello Sport with Ella’s fiance Eddy. As a Mother of two beautiful girls, Evie and Zoe; Stef’s two birth stories could not be more different. From trauma to euphoria, Stef talks us through the radically different experiences she had giving birth to Evie and Zoe and her advice along the way. 

We could listen to Stef speak for hours on end. Her knowledge, insight and advice on the process was so considered and thoughtful, we left the chat feeling pretty hopeful about it all (and that’s a lot for us!). We hope you find this chat as enlightening and special as we did.

This week we sit down with our incredibly talented graphic designer, Gen Meighan.

Today comes with a trigger warning that we’ll be talking about issues around disordered eating and mental health. If this may be a trigger for you, we suggest skipping todays ep and we’ve included some helplines and resources after our #KoldieAdvice.

We've been wanting to share Gen's story for a while now. When we first met Gen and hired her shortly after, we admired her maturity and talent. Gen lights up any room she steps into. She is vivacious, quirky and a little bit weird - which for us, are the perfect ingredients to making a GW (good woman). But, her journey to becoming this sophisticated and enigmatic young woman has been a long one, filled with challenges, pain and suffering. We had no idea that during school, she suffered from overwhelming anxiety and obsessive thoughts, which led to her developing an eating disorder - a way to assert some control in a world that she felt constantly judged from.

Gen is only 22 but her wisdom and self reflection truly shows that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. As women, living in an increasingly judgmental world fuelled by social media, we can all relate to aspects of her journey and we hope this episode can help those who might resonate. This is a brave, courageous and raw account of Gen, as told by her. We love that despite it all, she can always have a giggle.

Louie Collins is not your average 24 year old. His life is coloured with bravado, humour, a sh*t tonne of good times and ultimately, success. It's rare to meet young people that are so hungry to evolve and learn. We are honoured that our very first guest of 2022 is the absolutely hilarious TikTok Queen, Luisa Dal Din. Her dating and relationship skits are so hauntingly real that they can trigger those long lost memories from that time you chose to call that guy 68 times in a row on a night out or low key looked up the price of his Paddo terrace on RP data. Her POVs around all the etch sh*t girls do started during lockdown and has been growing ever since. She's kinda a big deal now.

This week we are joined by our favourite injectables nurse, Toby. We’ve been seeing Toby for about two years now and this stunning man brings so much light and energy to our lives - along with being known as the very best in the business at what he does. 

As always, we goss and lol about the bo bo we love so much but Toby has lived through some traumatic events that have shaped his life and most importantly, made him the beautiful soul that he is today.

Coming from a small coastal country town in Nowra, Toby left his family to live in Sydney to become an emergency / trauma nurse. His story is both heart breaking and beautiful, and we love how positive, happy and fucking funny he is despite it all.

He’s the kind of energy we all need before Christmas and as he quotes, “when life gives you lemons, do anal.” LOL.

We’ve dedicated today’s ep to Nurse Toby’s 94 year old Grandmother Dorine, who has stood by him through thick and thin. We love you Dorine.
