We’ve collaborated with the charity, Winston’s Wish, who help support children and young people with grief and loss. We spoke to three lovely members of the Winston’s Wish Youth Ambassador team to answer important questions on grief, like:
Does everyone experience grief in the same way?
When is it okay to feel happy again when you’ve been affected by grief?
How does grief change over time?
For personal support with grief and loss, you can visit Kooth or visit the Winston’s Wish website.
If you’re looking for some relaxation before bed, why not listen to our bedtime meditation? It can help you feel calmer and a bit more comfortable at night, so you can fall asleep with ease.
In this podcast, we speak to Aanisah, a secondary school teacher who is a practising Muslim. We discuss how faith and culture can affect your mental health, and the importance of role models and representation, especially for Muslim girls.
We understand how important it is for young people in the care system to feel heard. In this podcast, Carina, a youth worker at Kooth, speaks to a young person about their involvement in her project 'Pass the Parcel,' which explores how young people can represent their feelings of being passed around in the care system through objects.
Sometimes we can get so swept away in our feelings or the things we have to do in a day. In the rush of it all, we may get overwhelmed and need to take a moment to stop and collect ourselves. In this short audio, counsellor, Gemma, takes us through a quick STOP technique to help us find quick moments of calm throughout the day.
Do you ever feel like there’s something you need to let go of? Maybe it’s a particular thought, worry, or frustration. If you feel you need a quick sense of release, you can help train your body to relax with this short tense and release exercise.
Are there certain colours you find calming? Colours are often tied to our feelings and emotions. In this podcast, counsellor, Gemma, takes you through a relaxation meditation based on the colours of the rainbow.
Have you ever felt a sense of dread, restlessness, or a pit in your stomach? These aren’t pleasant feelings, but there are things we can do about them. Psychologist, Dr Kerry, helps us understand what exactly anxiety is, why we might feel anxious, when anxiety is helpful vs. harmful, as well as easy techniques to use when we’re feeling overwhelmed.
In the final instalment of our goals series, we spoke to Ben, a member of the Kooth youth leadership team, and Sofia, one of the Kooth counsellors, and asked them some questions about achieving your goals.
Please note - in the episode, you'll hear us say we're talking to the youth leadership team. Unfortunately, due to scheduling issues, this wasn't possible, so we've had to mix it up a bit instead. Thanks for bearing with us!
Setting goals can be tricky, so today, Gemma is talking us through how to make our own positive affirmations, for when we're finding it tough.
