https://RandallCarlson.com https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex Randall lists many of the sites he's shown and Brad rattles off several more that we've skipped, noting that we've just "scratched the surface" of revealing the ubiquitous megaflood features across North America. So we jump over a few more to be covered later and zone in on the western "Basin and Range" province that held numerous interconnected lakes, including the massive Lake Bonneville, which eventually eroded thru a narrow notch before scouring a path of destruction along the Snake River Plain of Southern Idaho. Wasatch shorelines, Red Rock Pass, Portneuf Valley, Pocatello, Massacre Rocks, and Twin/Shoshone Falls were all etched by a megaflood from the mega-lake released from Pleistocene Utah.

https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex We make multiple stops around the Southern Appalachians before heading to the desert southwest, en route to an extended look at the Bonneville Flood over the next few episodes, on our way to the Channeled Scablands of eastern Washington State. Cumberland Falls in Kentucky, Noccalula Falls Cataract and channel at the foot of Lookout Mountain in Gadsden Alabama, and Bonas Defeat on the Tuckasegee River of western North Carolina all show effects of dramatic and transformative flood action, most likely from extended rainstorm "pluvial" flood-flows. Bouncing out to New Mexico's Valles Caldera and it's drainage from an impounded lake within the Grand Valley, and the curious towering hoodoos of the least visited National Park in the Chiricahuan Mountains, we look at the evidence of sudden overwhelming rainfalls reshaping the landscapes, that few people get to witness or perceive...

RC reviews quotes by the geologists studying the Megaflood features throughout the Appalachians who struggle to grasp the scale of events and forces responsible for the ubiquitous relict features that are found. While noting the evolution of their conceptual framework, he pulls back and overviews the history of the birthing of the academic discipline of Geology, and its battles between the gradualist and catastrophist camps, which then leads again to the unresolved Energy Paradox. We're putting that mystery back on the table, by revealing what has been hidden throughout the Holocene, as RC shares images of countless boulder deposits and peruses the latest terrain maps that expose the flow-forms from a cataclysm "difficult to conceive…under any imaginable condition of discharge."

We get an accelerated review from the leader of the sole tour group that was visiting the awe-inspiring temples and ruins along Egypt's Nile River Valley late last November into December. After introductions and appreciative nods to the inspiring work of John Anthony West and Graham Hancock, and the ever-present relation to the catastrophic events of the Younger Dryas, we get to go along to many sites that were explored, including several that haven't been accessible for decades. Ben generously shares images and videos of the polished granite boxes in the Serapeum, the intricate stonework and artistry at the Temple of Hathor, the megaliths at the Osireion and the giant statues at Ramesseum, and much more… What a soul-stirring gift he has provided!

https://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex RC goes through a series of papers, starting in 1960, outlining the progression of thinking about the cause of massive and numerous blockfields and sediment fans throughout the southern Appalachian Mountains, from the gradualist perspective of "periglacial" effects to a more catastrophic view of extraordinary, intense, and prolonged rainstorm events. From the James River in Virginia to North Carolina's Grandfather Mountain and Flat Laurel Gap, the deposits throughout the region reveal evidence created by rare pluvial outbursts, leaving the geologists struggling to conceive their severity and conditions of discharge. Uniformity has value as a baseline, but problems arise when trying to make all changes fit that model, so with the recognition that none of these features are being built today – only being eroded by modern processes, the gradualist bubble is showing some breaches in its edifice. More from this region coming, including boulder-choked creeks and giant potholes…

After that whirlwind of mind-twisters, RC articulates a brief review to get us reoriented back into the megaflood evidence across North America. In preparation for our upcoming series of tours along the Cumberland Plateau, he moves the focus to the periglacial environment of the southern Appalachian Mountains called the Blue Ridge, where block streams, boulder fields, debris fans, high terraces, imbricated 100-ton slabs, and mass-wasting slides were deposited under conditions almost impossible to conceive. Test your imagination-stretching capabilities during this epic episode!

With extensive use of the USGS National Map browser, RC ventures west into central Michigan's Saginaw Lobe and Grand Valley flood channel, then further west to the many features related to the formation and catastrophic outflow of glacial Lake Wisconsin. We consider the accumulation of ice and glacier flow/spread, the differences between living and dead ice, flood and megaflood events of scaling magnitude, and the amazing opportunity that we have to study – with our modern tools of observation – a multi-million-year event that transpired very recently in Earth's geological history.

https://RandallCarlson.com/links https://youtube.com/TheRandallCarlson https://youtube.com/geocosmicrex After covering recent fireball and dinosaur news, we get reoriented with the Finger Lakes (New York) region's topography and erosion features, while relating the views of early natural philosopher James Hall – who recognized geomorphology that must have resulted from regional floods, and more recent geologists Wright and Shaw – who proposed that some landforms were from catastrophic subglacial discharges. Excitable RC browses around on the National Map viewer and Google terrain maps, showing the varied forms covering a broad area around Lake Ontario, and surmising a scenario that would create the traumatized landscapes. He then reads and explains thoroughly the results of seismic reflection profiles, reported on by Hinchey and Mullins in 1989, that identified layers of infill at the bottoms of the deeply eroded gorges, and how those six sequences would have been deposited. Extraordinary descriptions that set the scene really help to start visualizing the phenomenal processes at work that were rearranging North America's, and specifically central New York's, landforms during the Late Pleistocene - 13-14 thousand years ago.

We then get back into the formation of drumlins and the problem of scale, while revealing massive swarms in and around Lake Ontario, which includes a deep basin that seems an emanation point for the radial Finger Lakes of central New York State. Amazing scenes abound in the many glens and gorges that feed into those long, narrow lakes, showing sudden catastrophic erosion. Finally, RC jumps back to the radial drumlin fields formed beneath the Michigan lobe, southwest of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and asks persistent questions regarding the timing and sequence of all these phenomenal flood features' formations.
