Chester County authorities are investigating a shooting Friday in East Goshen Township that left a woman dead and a 9-year-old girl injured.

Police say it was around 11:30 a.m. when officers were called to the Summit House Condominiums just off West Chester Pike.

That's where authorities say they found the child suffering from a gunshot wound and a woman in her 40s who had also been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials are releasing very few details at this point as they work to notify the family of the victims.

Thursday's deadly shooting in Aldan, Delaware County, began as a call for help. Investigators say a man requested a courtesy ride from police so he could go to his father's house in Upper Darby around 3:30 a.m.

“He said he called 911, that he wants to come and see me,” the man's father told NBC10.

Police say when they encountered the man, he was armed with a knife. They say an officer tried using a Taser on him before she shot and killed him.

His father says he doesn't believe that. “There has to be an investigation on this. I don’t know what they are talking about. I don’t believe what they’re saying.”

He says his son suffered from mental health issues.

The police officer has been reassigned to desk duty while the Delaware County District Attorney's Office investigates.

A raucous meeting took place in Montgomery County Thursday night about a proposed data center in Plymouth Township. The 2-million-square-foot project is proposed for the former Cleveland-Cliffs steel mill site on Conshohocken Road.

People in the crowd booed and held up signs reading "SHAME" as board members discussed the selection of an expert witness for the developer.

Developer Brian O'Neill says many neighbors have been misinformed about the project. He encourages them to think about the economic boom he says the project could bring. According to O'Neill, he has agreed to about 90% of the township's demands and believes many residents have been misinformed about the project.

The township zoning board has another hearing on Aug. 17.
