The next chapter for Barnes & Noble bookstores is going to make Jenkintown-area book lovers very happy.

Fourteen years after the chain closed the book on its Jenkintown location, the retailer is opening up a new location across the road from its former home in a space once occupied by Bed Bath & Beyond.

The new bookstore, which is more than 20,000 square feet, officially opens next Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Noble Town Center.

Opening day will include a ribbon-cutting, book signing, character appearances and deals.

The Jenkintown location is one of 60 new Barnes & Noble stores to open this year.

From the bottom to the top, Rocky is permanently claiming his spot on the Art Museum steps.

Construction on an underground foundation for the statue will begin this Friday, Sept. 11, to prepare for the permanent installation of the City’s Rocky statue at the top of the steps.

If you're looking for Rocky, you'll still be able to see him, but it will be behind barricades until the end of September.

The steps will remain open, but access to the top of the steps will be temporarily closed during construction.

A former member of Mayor Cherelle Parker’s administration is the first person to announce her run to unseat Parker.

Shania Bennett announced on social media that she is running to become Philadelphia’s next mayor. The 26-year-old said her announcement is for people who want “transformational leadership and transparent representation.”

Parker appointed Bennett as the director of the Office of Youth Engagement two years ago. She resigned in May.

Bennett is hosting a campaign kickoff event on Sept. 26.
